Sgt. Jeffrey S. Boucher

Memorial Scholarship Fund

AUTO, BIKE & TRUCK SHOW

Sergeant Jeffrey Boucher was 26 and a Meriden police officer for only four short years. Early on Saturday morning, September 6, 2006, Sergeant Boucher was killed in a car accident in Southington, Connecticut.

Friends of Sergeant Boucher told us: "He was known for his smile. He always had a smile on his face.  He was a great guy, someone who was a motivator and inspired people.”   Jeff served in the Marines, was a Meriden DARE officer, a member of the SWAT team, a member of the Honor Guard, and worked on various committees in the police department.

“I had a hard time the next morning in roll call after we were told of Jeffrey’s passing”, said Tom Cirillo, a fellow Meriden officer. “News of his death hit us all very hard”.

On Sunday, August 16, 2009, the Meriden Police Department played host to the third annual Sergeant Jeff Boucher Auto, Bike and Truck Show. The annual event offered trophies in several categories, along with food, music, entertainment and more. The event was held at the Old Napier Building, located on Cambridge Street in Meriden, Connecticut.

The Fundraiser started at 10:00 a.m. and ran well after its 3:00 p.m. scheduled closing time. “It’s hot, real hot,” said one spectator speaking of the weather. “But the food is good and it’s for a great cause”. Many different types of antique and special interest vehicles attended including many of the Northeast Vintage Police Car Association’s police vehicles. Connecticut State Police Trooper Lenny Widener and his daughter Kathryn brought the state owned 1969 D.A.R.E. Corvette to the show. Meriden's Mobile Command Center, a 2006 Farber-built Specialty Command Vehicle, was also in attendance for the public’s inspection. The Hi-Tech vehicle supports sophisticated computers, communications, and state of the art surveillance technology. The vehicle was displayed at Sunday's show by Lieutenant Sal Nesci of the Meriden Police Department.

All proceeds from this most worthwhile event will benefit the Jeffrey S. Boucher Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Members of the Northeast Vintage Police Cars Association met up at Walgreen's Pharmacy in Meriden, CT ready to caravan to the show.
