About me: Someone a long time ago asked me why I wanted to become a police officer. Simple, I remember saying, "I want to help people who need my help". Not long after I joined the police force, I learned that a lot of the public we encounter believe that cops want to be cops because they enjoy the adrenaline rush, or the thrill of a chase. Some believe we want to satisfy some form of egotistical machismo need. I think I can state, for 99.9% of all the police officers on the job today, this is the farthest thing from the truth. Offering something back to our communities is why we do the job we love.

Like most officers starting out, my first assignment was in the Patrol Division. About eight years ago I was asked by my Chief to instruct our town's D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. I currently instruct the D.A.R.E. curriculum to over 250 students in three schools a year. I also serve as Vice President of Connecticut D.A.R.E. Officers Association. I'm involved with the Explorer Program as well as teaching  Stranger Danger to our town's elementary students. I could not ask for a better assignment.

* As of September 20 2006, I was forced to resign my position as a Police Officer because of a developing neurological illness. I will miss the job, the community and my students tremendously.
