The 2nd Annual Old
Saybrook, CT
Police Car Show
 |
Welcome
to Old Saybrook, CT.
The setting for the 2nd Annual Old Saybrook Police Car Show was
beautiful Old Saybrook, Connecticut. This shoreline community is one of
the oldest towns in the state. Incorporated on July 8, 1854, the
town has a long history dating back to 1635 when it began as an
independent colony known back then as the "Saybrook Plantation", a
beautiful waterfront village. Old Saybrook is a community of
approximately 10,000 residents, located in Middlesex County, on the west
side of the Connecticut River; a gorgeous, affluent little seaside town.
This year's
car show took place in the parking lot of the Old Saybrook High School
along scenic Route 1. The founders of this terrific event, Retired
Chester, CT Police Chief Kenneth Reid and Tom Weglarz did an exceptional
job of making sure the show went over without a glitch. Complementary
hotdogs and hamburgers were made ready for all and special awards were
given to all who attended. Approximately 40 classic and vintage police
vehicles were in attendance including Dean Hammond's 1941 State
Police Ford, Phil Masso's 1988 Dodge Diplomat NYPD Highway Patrol
cruiser and Rich
Kovach's
1964
Ford Country Sedan Police Emergency wagon, just to name a few.
All who attended were treated to a special Old Saybrook Police escorted
caravan through town and out along Saybrook point, a beautiful
trip skirting the towns picturesque sea side homes and cottages.
