This page is to provide information on the latest models of the Ford Police Interceptor, the 2001-2002. All of the information that is provided has been extracted from Ford publications.

The following is a list of improvements for the 2001-2002 PI:

- New standard Personal Safety System (includes seat belt pretentioners, dual stage air bags and seat position sensors)
- Horsepower improved from 215 to 235 hp (up 20 hp)
- New optional power adjustable brake/accelerator pedals
- Standard power lumbar driver's seat
- Added weapon cut-outs to front seats
- Hub caps made standard (wheel covers optional)
- Most DSO options have been changed to RPO
- Improved interior ergonomics
- Remote fuel door release

Color Selection

There are some new standard paint options for the 2001 PI. Of the colors shown below, the following are for Police vehicles only:

- Medium Brown Metallic (Code BU)
- Dark Blue (LK)
- Royal Blue (LM)
- Light Blue Metallic (LN)
- Ultra Blue Clearcoat Metallic (MM)
- Silver Grey Metallic (TN)
- Medium Titanium Clearcoat Metallic (YG)

There are three different interior colors: Dark Denim Blue, Medium Parchment, and Light Graphite (i.e., dark blue, tan, and grey.) There are three two-tone paint options for the 2001-2002 PI. They are 952, 953, and 955. See the diagram below for details. The highlight color can be any Ford color.

2001 Ford P71 Details

The following is a list of standard features that are a part of the 1998-2000 P71 package:

4.6 liter (281 CID) Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) electronic fuel injected engine rated at 235 HP @ 4750 RPM and 275 ft-lb's. of torque @ 4,000 RPM

4-Speed Automatic Overdrive, Electronic Controlled (AOD-E) transmission, model 4R70W, with lockup torque converter and external cooler

Aluminum, 3.5" metal-matrix drive shaft

Rear-Axle ratio of 3.27:1 with a non-locker differential
